This masterpiece is in need of a owner with some know how in fixing these. It was turning on but not working correctly, the tracking issue was odd. Never worked with these. Now its just not coming on. I was offered $300 for box and manuals some months ago when it was turning on.So if you're not familiar with the SL 15 by technics, which is made by Panasonic, you should really get acquainted! This is one of the coolest and reliable turntables you will ever own. On top of that, this is the only SL 15 with the original box with the original manuals with the original cables and the cables are even marked with techniques markings on them. It has a Japanese adapter that came from technics.Physically, it’s overall pretty good but has some marks and scratches. There’s a screw missing on the back as can be seen in photos and the top doesn’t quite lock right, one of the unlock buttons seems to be stuck.
The US$900 ask looks ambitious against the recent used market, which centers around US$290 with a 25th percentile of US$148 and a 75th percentile of US$1,251. It is not an automatic no, but it is priced as a premium parts/repair package rather than a casual fixer-upper.
The appeal here is the SL-15’s cult following and the fact that the package includes the box, manual, and cables, which helps for a collector or someone rebuilding a complete example. That said, “parts repair as is” means the real value depends on whether the arm, automation, and electronics are actually recoverable; for this model, buyers should be especially careful about service history and whether everything included is original.
