Seller's Description

REL Acoustics S/510 Subwoofer (Active / Powered) This is Ad 4 of 4 as I have 4 White REL S/510 subs available. They are all just under a year old. Rarely used. Excellent condition, no marks that I can see and they've been packed back into the original boxes. See photos.  When I bought these at the end of last year, I originally had a pair of these subs for my setup (which I am still keeping) and decided to trade in some other speakers I had in a separate setup for 4 more RELS to consolidate into one system and complete a REL line array. However, my room is small and even the pair of RELS I hav

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

This is a buyer’s market for this category at the moment, and this asking price is a very strong deal. At A$3,450, it lands just under the A$3,467 median and comfortably inside the normal used band of A$3,273 to A$3,482, so it reads as fair-to-good rather than ambitious.

That makes it a tempting buy if it’s genuinely in excellent condition, because the S 510 is a well-regarded serious sub: fast, controlled, and capable of proper low-end authority without sounding bloated. For a clean unit at this price, the main upside is simply getting a high-end sub at essentially market value; I’d just confirm it’s fully functional, hasn’t been abused at high output, and comes with any original accessories or setup bits if those matter to you.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About REL Acoustics

REL Acoustics traces its origins to the inventive mind of Richard Edmund Lord, the man behind the brand's acronym, who founded the company in the United Kingdom around 1990 out of frustration with the subpar subwoofers available at the time. Dissatisfied with conventional low-frequency solutions, Lord crafted his own mammoth custom design, integrated into a bay window, which quickly earned acclaim from audiophiles as the finest they had encountered. This grassroots beginning in a tiny workshop marked the start of REL's relentless pursuit of audio perfection, evolving through innovations like the revolutionary High-Level Input that connects directly to a main amplifier's speaker outputs for seamless integration.

The brand specializes exclusively in powered subwoofers, eschewing amplifiers, speakers, turntables, DACs, headphones, or cables to focus intently on sub-bass systems. Early models like the Strata 2, Stadium, and Britannia range established REL's signature forward-firing designs and simplified crossovers, while later series such as T/x and the reimagined Serie S—launched in 2025 with models like the 212 Black Label and S/850—refine musicality, style, and power. Acquired in 2005 by John Hunter and Donald Brody, REL modernized its aesthetics and engineering without diluting its core philosophy.

REL commands a prestigious niche in the high-end hi-fi market as the preeminent authority on subwoofers, revered by discerning audiophiles for transforming even elite $15,000-to-$20,000 speaker systems into reference-caliber performers. Its boutique status stems from unwavering innovation and musical fidelity, positioning it as an essential upgrade for serious setups rather than a mass-market or mid-tier option.
