At US$208, this is more like a strong shop-floor contender than a bargain-bin grab; the obvious alternative at this level is usually a newer budget CD player, and that can be a decent route, but not one with the same vintage Technics charm. Typical used asking and sold prices for this model cluster much lower, roughly around US$55–US$120 for working examples, with serviced/refurbished units sometimes pushing toward US$130, so US$208 is clearly ambitious unless the condition is exceptional and it’s fully sorted.
What makes it worth considering is the solid late-era Technics build, respectable transport/DAC performance, and the fact that these are still loved for straightforward, musical CD playback rather than gimmicks. If it’s clean, original, and genuinely well-maintained—with remote, manual, or proof of service—it has upside for a collector or someone wanting a reliable vintage spinner. At this price, though, you should want confirmation it loads discs quickly, reads track access cleanly, and doesn’t show tray or laser fatigue.
