Timing doesn’t matter much here unless it’s a specific DT 770 variant you’ve been hunting; this is a mature, long-running model, so the buy decision comes down more to price and condition than to generation changes. At €100, it lands right on the median of recent comparable EUR listings, so this is a fair ask rather than a steal or a stretch.
That still makes it a sensible buy if the set is genuinely clean: the DT 770’s appeal is its sturdy build, easy parts availability, and punchy closed-back sound that works well for tracking, casual listening, or a durable everyday headphone. Excellent condition adds real value because pads, headband cushioning, and cable wear are the usual things to check; if those are all in good shape and the included accessories are complete, this is a solid, low-drama purchase at a normal market price.
Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.
Beyerdynamic traces its roots to 1924 Berlin, where engineer Eugen Beyer founded Elektrotechnische Fabrik Eugen Beyer to produce cinema loudspeakers for the dawn of sound films. Born in St. Petersburg in 1903, Beyer relocated amid the Russian Revolution, pioneering dynamic drivers that defined early audio reproduction. Post-World War II destruction forced a rebuild in Heilbronn in 1948, with his son Fred R. Beyer steering the family-owned firm through decades of innovation until its 2025 acquisition by China's Cosonic Intelligent, marking the end of a century-long German heritage.
The brand excels in headphones and microphones, launching the DT 48 in 1937 as the world's first dynamic headphones—a staple for sound engineers until 2012. It expanded into wireless systems, conference tech, and professional monitoring gear, serving studios, broadcast, film, and now gaming. While early efforts included amplifiers and loudspeakers, Beyerdynamic prioritizes transducers over consumer amps, DACs, turntables, speakers, or cables.
Renowned for durable, reference-grade professional audio, Beyerdynamic occupies a solid mid-to-high-end niche, blending accessible pricing with studio precision that appeals to creators and audiophiles. Its century of milestones—from micing royalty to touring icons—cements a reputation for reliability and sonic purity among discerning hi-fi buyers seeking tools that endure.
