Seller's Description

Power Amp Levinson, Krell, Bryston, Pass Hi all, and Merry Xmas to the SNA community 🙂🎉🎁🎄   I'm looking for a 2 ch power amplifier, solid state.   Along the lines of Levinson 3xx/4xx/5xx, Krell KSA/FPB, Pass, Proceed.  Even an older Bryston would be good.   Looking for quality over quantity (50-100w min) although big watts are fine.  I may upgrade my speakers next, so watts could be good.   Something neutral, dynamic and clean please.  Not keen on super soft, rolled off treble. 🙂 Engaging musicality is a Must!   Budget is hard to nail as I acknowledge prices vary wildly for my descriptors.  Pe

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

Against the used market, A$99,999 is wildly above anything remotely typical for a KSA-50; recent comparable listings and references put these in the low-thousands of A$ at most, not anywhere near six figures. That makes this asking price not a fair market buy, but an extreme outlier unless the listing is actually for some very special, misdescribed, or bundled item.

The amp itself is genuinely respected: the KSA-50 is a classic Krell Class A design with serious current delivery, big, authoritative sound, and enough drive to make difficult speakers come alive. If the seller can document originality, full service history, and pristine cosmetic/functional condition, that matters—but only as a premium on a collectible piece. At A$99,999, though, the buyer should assume the real issue is pricing error or mislisting, and verify the exact model, serial, and included accessories before doing anything else.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Krell

Krell Industries, founded in 1980 in the United States by Dan D'Agostino and his wife Rondi, emerged from a passion for pushing audio engineering boundaries. Based initially in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and later settling in nearby Orange, the brand drew its name from the advanced alien race in the 1956 film Forbidden Planet, symbolizing limitless technological power. The company's debut at the 1981 Consumer Electronics Show with the KSA-100, a high-power Class A amplifier, sparked immediate demand and established Krell as a force in American hi-fi innovation.

Krell specializes in high-end amplification, with its power amplifiers—epitomized by flagships like the Master Reference Amplifier—earning legendary status for their raw dynamics and precision. The lineup extends to preamplifiers, surround sound processors, digital-to-analog converters, CD and Super Audio CD players, loudspeakers, and subwoofers, all engineered for uncompromised performance in music and home theater systems.

Positioned firmly at the pinnacle of the high-end audio market, Krell commands respect among discerning audiophiles for its cutting-edge circuitry, massive power supplies, and relentless pursuit of sonic excellence. A top-tier brand alongside legends like Levinson and Threshold, it appeals to buyers seeking reference-level gear that defines the genre, even amid recent ownership transitions following Rondi's passing in 2024.
