Seller's Description

RelaiXed 8-channel Analogue 8-channel volume control When I first added subs to my 3-way active Maggies, I used an analogue in /analogue out miniDSP unit (the 10x10HD).  Consequently - as I didn't want to use the digital volume control in the 10x10HD - I needed to find an 8-channel, analogue volume control.   I found a guy in the Netherlands, Jos van Eijndhoven ... who had developed the 'Relaixed' unit - a digitally controlled, 4-channel, analogue volume control.  Two boards can be daisy-chained, for 8 channels.   The boards come as a kit - and use a combination of surface-mount and thru-hole

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

If this is the older 8-channel digital miniDSP unit, timing matters because the line has been eclipsed by newer Flex/Dirac-era boxes, so value now depends more on condition and included accessories than on being “current.” At A$630, it lands in the fair-to-slightly-keen zone rather than looking like a steal; for an 8-channel miniDSP with room-correction capability, that’s not out of line if the unit is clean and complete.

What keeps it worthwhile is the core miniDSP appeal: compact digital routing, flexible crossover/EQ/PEQ work, and serious DIY usefulness in multichannel or active setups. These units are popular because they solve problems expensive analog gear can’t, and they often hold value if they’re original-owner and unmolested. I’d mainly check for the PSU, USB control stability, and any signs of heavy rack use; if it’s truly tidy and fully working, A$630 is a reasonable enthusiast buy.

About miniDSP

Founded in Hong Kong in 2009, miniDSP emerged as a startup driven by a team of audio, electronics, and IT enthusiasts passionate about democratizing digital signal processing (DSP) for DIY audio projects. From its base in a global hub for electronics manufacturing, the company quickly carved out a niche by delivering compact, affordable DSP modules that empowered hobbyists and engineers to refine sound without prohibitive costs.

miniDSP specializes in versatile digital audio processors, including flagship 2-input, 4-output units like the 2x4 HD, which integrate crossovers, parametric EQ, and room correction. These tools target home theater, hi-fi, headphone, and car audio applications, supporting both analog and digital inputs with line-level outputs. Rather than amplifiers, speakers, or headphones, their focus remains on DSP hardware and software, fostering a vibrant community where users customize firmware for diverse setups.

Positioned as a mid-tier DSP specialist, miniDSP enjoys strong market presence in over 150 countries, backed by a 2-year warranty, ongoing firmware updates, and robust technical support. It appeals to knowledgeable audiophiles, DIYers, and engineers seeking professional-grade performance at accessible prices, though its boutique scale introduces minor risks in long-term parts availability.
