Das Gerät befindet sich in einem sehr schönen und gepflegten optischen Zustand. Der Radioteil funktioniert sehr gut, auch UKW-Stereo. Beide Lautsprecher funktionieren einwandfrei und der Klang ist wirklich hervorragend.
Beleuchtung, LED-Anzeigen und Digitaluhr funktionieren ebenfalls.
Beim Kassettenlaufwerk hat sich altersbedingt der Flachriemen/Antriebsriemen aufgelöst. Dieser muss ersetzt werden. Das Kassettenteil wird deshalb ausdrücklich als nicht funktionsfähig bzw. reparaturbedürftig angeboten.
Eine weitere Prüfung des Laufwerks habe ich nicht vorgenommen.
Beide Antennen, Batteriefach und Bedienelemente sind vorhanden.
Insgesamt ein sehr schönes Exemplar dieses inzwischen gesuchten RFT-Klassikers und Liebhaberstücks.
For a parts-only unit, €200 is on the ambitious side unless the cosmetics are exceptional or it’s unusually complete. Comparable SKR 550 listings I found were around €399 for very clean, running examples and about €429 from a specialist seller, which makes a non-working, for-parts deck at €200 feel too close to “working money” for comfort.
That said, the SKR 550 is a desirable late-’80s DDR recorder with good collector appeal, so a buyer might still pay up for a straight, original example. As a parts donor, the real value is in intact cosmetics, doors, knobs, and a complete transport; if those are all present, it has some upside. But at this price, missing or damaged key parts would make it hard to justify.

The brand's product focus centered on consumer and professional audio gear, including bookshelf speakers, full-range drivers, vacuum tubes, and communications electronics like radios and two-way systems. Iconic examples encompass 1970s RFT bookshelf speakers with Tesla-sourced drivers, 1950s EGB (RFT) units for high-sensitivity radio applications, and ECC83 preamp tubes widely used in European amps. Amplifiers and turntables appeared sporadically via consortium members, but RFT excelled in affordable, robust loudspeakers and components rather than high-fidelity esoterica.
Today, RFT occupies a niche vintage-collector space among hi-fi enthusiasts, prized for its utilitarian GDR engineering and surprising sonic performance—often high-sensitivity designs that punch above their budget origins. Far from high-end or contemporary mid-tier contenders, these pieces appeal to retro hunters seeking Cold War-era bargains with character, though sourcing verified originals demands caution amid rebrands and fakes. Obscure outside specialist circles, RFT evokes affordable analog nostalgia without pretension.
