Originally bought in 1982, I had it fully restored, including recapping, by Sansui specialist Brad Williams from Sound of When. The amplifier features a rosewood cabinet and is renowned for delivering a sound quality reminiscent of valve amplifiers. Timing matters here because this is an early-1980s Sansui design, and the AU-D11 sits in that sweet spot where the best examples are still highly desirable but genuinely serviced units matter more than fresh-looking cosmetics. At A$2,600, the asking price is well above the old AU-D11 sale at A$750, and also above the kind of money seen for a restored AU-D11 II at about A$1,850; that puts this listing on the ambitious side unless it’s exceptionally original, fully serviced, and documented.
What keeps it interesting is the amp itself: the AU-D11 is a respected 120 W/ch Sansui with strong phono capability, a serious power supply, and the kind of dense, punchy presentation vintage Sansui fans chase. If this one is clean inside, recently recapped, and complete with original trim, it could still appeal to a collector or a buyer who wants one of Sansui’s better integrateds without hunting abroad. At this price, I’d want proof of service history, bias/DC stability, and confirmation that all controls and switches are quiet.
