Modern recording uses three dynamic control techniques which may detract from the original dynamic range; reduction of transient peaks, overall compression of loud levels and upward manipulation of soft levels.
The RG-2 will correct dynamic distortion in each of these areas, increasing the contrast and virtually restoring the original live program.

At US$325, it sits well over the US$196 median and between the US$102 / US$450 middle spread, so this reads as a moderate premium rather than a bargain.
What makes it worthwhile is the add-on flexibility: these units are valued for giving older systems a bit more dynamic control and system-tuning character without getting into pro-audio complexity. If it’s clean, fully functional, and preferably has original packaging or documentation, that premium is easier to justify. At this price, though, make sure the controls are quiet and the unit has been tested end to end, since age-related switch and pot issues matter more when you’re paying above median.
