Seller's Description

The amp works fine. it was refurbished in 2016. Hasn't been used recently and could possibly use a tuneup. Some of the metal has corrosion on it which was there when I acquired it. Cosmetics are not it's strong suit, but it is a workhorse of an amp.

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

Compared with the obvious alternative at this money—a new entry-level integrated or amp—the asking price is a strong bargain. At US$500, this sits far below the US$1,225 25th percentile and well under the US$1,300 median of recent comparable listings, so it looks like a real value opportunity rather than a merely fair one.

The MC2100 is a respected vintage McIntosh power amp: substantial build, honest power, and the kind of easy, confident drive that still makes sense with efficient speakers or a good preamp. For a clean, working example, the upside is straightforward—classic McIntosh sound and ownership appeal at a fraction of typical asking levels. At this price, the main buy-in is condition and service history, not market value.

About McIntosh

McIntosh Laboratory, founded in 1949 in the United States by Frank H. McIntosh and Gordon Gow, embodies a storied heritage of American audio innovation. Originally based in Silver Spring, Maryland, before relocating to Binghamton, New York, where products are still handcrafted today, the brand emerged from a commitment to superior sound reproduction. Iconic blue watt meters on their gear have become globally recognized symbols of precision and power.

Positioned firmly in the high-end market, McIntosh commands respect among discerning audiophiles for its uncompromising quality, luxurious build, and timeless design.
