If this is the ACRO CA1000-era unit, timing matters because it’s an older, first-gen Astell & Kern all-in-one and has already been superseded by the CA1000T. At A$800, though, it looks fair to strong rather than ambitious: used asking prices on the newer CA1000T tend to sit much higher, and the CA1000 itself launched around the A$2,100 mark, so A$800 is comfortably in used-buy territory.
That makes it interesting if you want A&K’s polished desktop/portable DAC-amp experience without paying new-money pricing. The appeal is the build, multiple amp options, and the generally refined, high-resolution sound Astell & Kern gear is known for. In like-new condition, the main upside is simple: you’re buying into a premium platform at a sane price, so confirm the power supply, cables, and any adapters are included, then treat it as a solid enthusiast buy.
