Premium Digital Hub
The Altair G1.1 acts as a premium digital hub for any high-performance system, the ALTAIR G1 software and hardware functions in much the same way as the original ALTAIR, able to act as a preamp, a DAC, a streamer, and an all-in-one digital source, but is also now fitted with the G1 chassis, providing a matching 4-inch color display and Smart IR feature.
Wireless Streaming DAC
As a wireless streaming DAC, ALTAIR G1.1 has received several updates from both the G1 and G2 series of products. It now uses the ESS 9038Q2M conversion chip, providing the user with more detail and perceived resolution than ever before. To match the higher levels of performance available from this new DAC chip, the analog circuitry received necessary parts upgrades and an improved layout for a balanced presentation.

New for July 2022, The Altair G1.1 has an improved Femto clock, providing an even higher level of precision for the integrated DAC. It also has a more powerful built-in headphone amplifier, making the headphone listening experience even better.

The Altair G1.1 sits in AURALiC’s sweet spot: a polished all-in-one streamer/DAC that earned its reputation for clean, refined sound and easy system integration. At NZD 2,798, this is above the NZD 2,507 75th percentile for recent NZD comparables, so it reads as ambitious rather than a bargain.
That doesn’t make it a bad buy if the unit is genuinely tidy and complete, because this model is still a very capable digital front end with strong long-term appeal. The value case improves a lot if it includes the remote, original packaging, and proof of careful ownership; if those are missing, I’d want a firmer price given the market spread.

The company built its reputation around the philosophy that high-fidelity audio should be accessible to serious listeners rather than confined to ultra-luxury markets. Though headquartered in Asia, AURALiC maintained a global distribution network and cultivated a dedicated following among audiophiles worldwide.
The brand specialized in digital streaming components and high-resolution audio sources, with their product lineup centered on network streamers such as the Altair, Aries, and Vega models, alongside digital-to-analog converters and integrated streaming solutions. AURALiC positioned itself in the premium mid-to-high-end segment, offering feature-rich, sonically accomplished products that combined innovative technology with thoughtful industrial design. Their ecosystem approach—pairing hardware with mobile control applications—appealed to listeners seeking convenience without compromising sound quality.
AURALiC ceased operations in September 2025 following an 80% sales collapse in that year. The company's decline resulted from converging pressures: US tariff barriers that suspended American sales, intensifying competition from budget streaming alternatives, economic contraction in China, and mounting software-development costs. Founder Wang's departure in January 2025 preceded the company's final dissolution, leaving owners of its premium products without ongoing support or software updates—a cautionary reminder of the vulnerabilities facing even well-regarded independent audio brands.
