THIEL CS3.7 Floorstanding Loudspeakers The greatest ever Thiel - according to its designer the late Jim Thiel, The CS3.7. Considered a bargain at its $13,900USD original RRP ; transparency rivalling the greatest electrostatics, but with the best dynamics a cone speaker can provide. A rare bird. (Not my quote 🙂 - but from one review on the web, which are plentiful - including from Stereophile etc). The speakers sound as good as new. Thiel’s CS 3.7 sits in the serious end of the passive floorstander market: big-scale, very resolving, and capable of real bass authority when properly driven. At A$7,150, this is well above the recent local used norm of A$1,250 median and A$3,465 at the 75th percentile, so it reads as ambitious rather than fair.
That said, for a like_new pair, the upside is the appeal of a highly regarded, hard-to-find model that can still compete on transparency and imaging with newer speakers. If the cabinets, drivers, and stands/supporting hardware are truly immaculate and the speakers have been well stored, this is the sort of listing that suits a buyer who specifically wants the Thiel presentation and is paying for condition as much as the model itself.
