If it’s been serviced or confirmed fully functional, the price is reasonable; if it’s untested, it becomes a bit more of a buyer’s judgment call.
What makes it worth a look is that the CT-939 is one of Pioneer’s better-regarded late-period 3-head, dual-capstan decks, with strong playback quality and serious tape performance when healthy. At this level, the real upside is condition: original packaging, a documented service, or a clean, smoke-free one-owner example can justify the ask. The main caveat is age-related wear, so for €500 I’d want proof of transport health, head condition, and stable recording/playback before calling it an easy buy.
