Clearaudio Talismann V2 Gold MC Phono Cartridge

One Magical MC Phono Cartridge: Completely Symmetrical

Clearaudio Talismann v2 Gold Plays with Alluring Smoothness, Vivid Dynamics,

Beautiful Tones, Formidable Weight, and See-Through Clarity

True to its name, the Clearaudio Talismann v2 Gold

MC phono cartridge possesses seemingly magical powers when it hits the

grooves an LP. How else to explain its incredible smoothness, vivacious

dynamics, beautiful midrange, and deep bottom end? Or see-through

clarity and encyclopedia-level definition, along with formidable weight and

focus? Well, for starters, credit goes to Clearaudio’s perfectionist-minded

engineers and master builders that assemble each Talismann v2 Gold by hand.

Then, it pays to take a closer look at the materials and construction that make

this musical instrument such an elegant analog choice.

Devised to extract the finest of details from your records,

the absolutely symmetrical Talismann v2 Gold does so via Clearaudio’s now-legendary

combination of a rigid boron cantilever and micro HD diamond stylus. Its 10.8-gram

hand-polished ebony wood body acts to suppress ruinous resonances while

an accompanying metal alloy element controls internal vibrations. Stellar

channel matching, 24-karat gold wire coils, and a 0.5mV output

voltage complete the v2 version of an award-winning cartridge that boasts

a 20Hz-100kHz frequency response range and will have you

pulling out record after record – and hearing them all with fresh ears. Let the

magic begin.

Inside the Art of a Talismann

Clearaudio significantly improved its fully symmetrical

moving-coil phono cartridge design, first patented in 1980.On Talismann v2

Gold, the generator is redesigned in a revolutionary way by positioning and

doubling the magnets (to eight pieces) so the coils operate in a much stronger

magnetic field. The generator construction is also absolutely symmetrical:

mechanically, magnetically and electrically. Furthermore, Clearaudio chose the

strongest magnetic material available: super neodymium. Through these

achievements, the efficiency has been raised by 30%. The new micro HD Diamond

tip provides a hybrid parabolic geometry with a stylus radii of 0.008mm x

0.040mm. The total mass (0.00016 grams) is a fifth of the previous diamond

stylus. Cartridge body resonances, while tracking in the groove, are minimized

through the twelve-finger design of the mounting plate, each finger with a

different radius.

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

The Talismann V2 Gold is a serious moving-coil cartridge, and US$1,000 looks like a solid buy against the typical used market for this level of Clearaudio. New pricing sits around US$1,900 to US$2,200, and used examples have been seen from roughly US$700 to US$1,495, so this asking price lands in the middle-to-lower part of the range without feeling cheap or inflated.

What makes it worthwhile is the combo of boron cantilever, micro-line-style diamond, and Clearaudio’s reputation for fast, finely etched, very low-coloration sound with strong tracking at the stated 2.8 g force. The upside is greatest if the stylus has low hours, the original box and specs are included, and the seller can confirm clean channel balance and no cantilever damage; at this price, those details matter more than cosmetic wear.

About Clearaudio

Clearaudio, a pinnacle of German analog engineering, traces its roots to 1978 in Erlangen, when founder Peter Suchy patented the company's inaugural moving-coil cartridge. This family-owned enterprise, now steered by Peter's children—Patrick, Veronica, and Robert Suchy—has upheld a relentless pursuit of perfection, encapsulated in its philosophy: "Take the best and make it better, only then is it just good enough." Over 45 years, Clearaudio has evolved from humble beginnings into a global benchmark for vinyl playback, crafting products in its high-tech facility amid the scientific hub of Friedrich-Alexander University.

The brand's portfolio centers on high-end turntables, renowned for their transparent acrylic components, parallel-tracking tonearms, and precision mechanics that deliver unparalleled rotational stability. Complementing these are meticulously engineered moving-coil cartridges, phonostages, and tonearms, with extensions into analog accessories and even reissued Deutsche Grammophon classical recordings. While not venturing deeply into digital realms or speakers, Clearaudio's focus remains unyieldingly analog, prioritizing symbiotic magnetic, mechanical, and electrical symmetry for lifelike sound reproduction.

Positioned firmly in the high-end audiophile market, Clearaudio commands respect among discerning vinyl enthusiasts worldwide, serving over 80 countries with turntables that redefine standards. Its boutique reputation stems from in-house innovation and flawless German craftsmanship, appealing to collectors and serious listeners who demand reference-level performance without compromise.
