Seller's Description

McIntosh MC275 Power Amplifier Bought from West Coast HiFi Midland. Original box available. Receipt may have it somewhere.    Good condition. The print on the chrome plate on the side has come off (see photo), one of the known problem for McIntosh.  It does not affect the important labels for inputs/outputs and switches.    Otherwise no scratch or mark.    Too many amps. Bitten by the upgrading bug again. Making space and $$$ needed for Accuphase pre and mono blocks.    Condition: Very Good Payment Method: EFT Region/State: (WA) Western Australia/Australia By Joot 0 Comments Secure Ad AUD $7,5

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

For a classic valve power amp that’s long out of production, timing matters mainly because nice, serviced examples don’t sit around forever. At A$7,500, this lands comfortably below the A$8,144 median and well under the A$10,664 75th percentile, so it reads as a solid buy rather than an ambitious ask.

The appeal here is straightforward: the MC275 is one of McIntosh’s most admired pieces for its big, spacious presentation, excellent midrange, and sheer ease with real speakers. A very good-condition unit at this price is worth serious attention, especially if it’s been maintained properly and comes with any useful service history or original bits. The main thing to check is valve health and whether any recent work was done cleanly.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About McIntosh

McIntosh Laboratory, founded in 1949 in the United States by Frank H. McIntosh and Gordon Gow, embodies a storied heritage of American audio innovation. Originally based in Silver Spring, Maryland, before relocating to Binghamton, New York, where products are still handcrafted today, the brand emerged from a commitment to superior sound reproduction. From powering President Lyndon Johnson's inauguration to the Grateful Dead's Wall of Sound at Woodstock, McIntosh has shaped pivotal moments in music history and pop culture, earning its place as a cultural icon.

The company specializes in a comprehensive lineup of high-fidelity components, including renowned amplifiers—particularly its revered tube models for their warm, enveloping sound—along with solid-state power amps, stereo tuners, loudspeakers, turntables, music streamers, processors, and digital-to-analog converters. This breadth supports both two-channel stereo systems and multi-channel home theaters, delivering immersive experiences in music and film. Iconic blue watt meters on their gear have become globally recognized symbols of precision and power.

Positioned firmly in the high-end market, McIntosh commands respect among discerning audiophiles for its uncompromising quality, luxurious build, and timeless design. Far from mid-tier or niche boutique, it stands as a premium benchmark, favored by legendary musicians and producers across decades, blending vintage allure with modern performance for those who demand the ultimate in sonic fidelity.
