Astonishing dac with preamp and streaming capabilities also. Factory original ma3i, not upgraded old ma3. As new, complete with all original packaging and accessories.
The MA3i sits in true reference territory, and at £6,995 this is a strong buy versus the recent used market: it lands just under the £7,001 25th percentile and a touch below the £7,044 median. That puts it in bargain-to-very-fair territory rather than merely “reasonable.”
What makes it worth chasing is the EMM/Meitner house sound—exceptional resolution, excellent timing, and a very composed, organic presentation that tends to scale with the rest of the system. Excellent condition at this level matters, and if it’s complete and functioning properly, the pricing leaves some room for a serious DAC that still has genuine statement-level credibility.
Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.
EMM Labs and Meitner Audio trace their roots to Ed Meitner, a pioneering audio engineer born in Austria who immigrated to Canada in 1969. With a career spanning over 50 years, Meitner contributed to landmark projects like the world's first automated mixing console at Olive Electrodynamics in Montreal and test equipment for Amber. He founded Museatex in the early 1980s before establishing EMM Labs in 1998 in Calgary, Alberta, followed by Meitner Audio in 2012, both carrying forward his legacy of Canadian-engineered excellence.
The brands specialize in high-performance digital and analog playback systems, renowned for their cutting-edge DACs, CD/SACD transports, and integrated playback solutions like the multi-award-winning XDS1 and MA-2. Collaborating with Sony and Philips, they refined Super Audio CD (SACD) technology, pioneering the first complete multichannel DSD playback system and setting benchmarks for high-resolution converters used in professional music production.
Positioned firmly in the ultra-high-end market, EMM Labs and Meitner command respect among discerning audiophiles for their unerring fidelity, innovative engineering, and emotional engagement. Their products, handcrafted by a tight-knit team of physicists, engineers, and music lovers, represent the pinnacle of state-of-the-art hi-fi, influencing industry standards while delivering reference-level performance to homes worldwide.
