This is an older flagship generation, so the timing is good only if you want the classic HE1000 V2 sound rather than waiting for the newer stealth version. At A$1,400, it looks fair to mildly attractive versus the typical used range I’d expect around A$1,700–A$2,000, with some clean examples occasionally dipping to about A$1,300; this is close enough to the lower end that it’s not a stretch price.
What makes it worth buying is the big, spacious, refined planar presentation: excellent staging, airy treble, and a very natural, high-end sense of ease when properly driven. It’s also a model with real cachet, and if the pads, cable, headband, and drivers are all healthy, this is the kind of headphone that still feels special. With condition unknown, I’d mainly want confirmation on wear, channel balance, and included accessories before calling it a strong grab.
