Against the recent GBP comparables, this asking price sits just under the median £1,549 and below the 25th-to-75th band of £1,524 to £1,573, so it reads as a fair-to-slightly-keen buy rather than a bargain. At £1,500, it is priced sensibly for the market and does not look ambitious.
That makes it interesting if the unit is clean, fully functional, and comes with the right accessories. The DIA-250 s is respected for its refined, muscular all-in-one presentation and ease of use, so a well-kept example can be a very tidy way into serious hi-fi without overpaying. On this price, focus on service history, remote, packaging, and any signs of age-related wear, but there is no obvious red flag here.

Gato Audio emerged from Denmark's storied high-end audio scene, founded in 2008 by Kresten Dinesen and Frederik Johansen, with Rasmus Holm joining as a key developer. The trio brought deep expertise from roles at prestigious Danish firms like Holfi and GamuT Audio, where they honed skills in development, production, and sales. Headquartered in Herlev since 2009, the company embodies Danish precision engineering, even drawing in industry veteran Poul Rossing for strategic guidance and capital.
The brand specializes in a cohesive lineup of high-end electronics, loudspeakers, and cables, designed and manufactured in-house for seamless integration. Standouts include powerful amplifiers like the AMP150, digital sources such as DACs and streamers, and refined speakers that prioritize musicality over gimmicks. This full-service approach ensures unrivaled price-to-performance ratios, with every component reflecting meticulous build quality and aesthetic appeal.
Positioned as a niche boutique player in the high-end market, Gato Audio commands respect among discerning audiophiles for its award-winning products—over 15 years of critical acclaim—and innovative sound that delivers relaxed, realistic textures without artificial detailing. Far from mass-market, it appeals to knowledgeable buyers seeking soulful, personality-driven performance from a true Danish specialist.
