Seller's Description

NHT Super Zero Bookshelf Loudspeakers The NHT Super Zero are one of the best small monitors I have had, and I've had quite a few as well as being involved in the hifi industry for many years. I have coupled them to a compact 8" subwoofer by DSE, which is a brand that doesn't get due credit. There's one for sale down at Sussex Inlet at present in immaculate condition for $100, and well worth it. Mine has been sprayed white to match the Super Zeroes.   Freight: ask me about that.      Condition: Good Payment Method: eft, cash on pickup Region/State: (NSW) New South Wales/Australia By Spinnergeof

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

I need to flag a critical issue: the search results contain no information about an NHT Super Zero subwoofer. NHT made the SuperZero as a compact bookshelf speaker, not a subwoofer. The brand did produce separate subwoofers (Super 8, B-10d, B-12d), but there's no "Super Zero Subwoofer" model in the available data.

Without confirmation of the exact product, I can't reliably benchmark the AUD 160 asking price or identify model-specific failure points. Before proceeding with a purchase assessment, verify the listing carefully: Is this labeled as a SuperZero subwoofer, or could it be a different NHT sub paired with SuperZero speakers? Check the model number on the unit itself and cross-reference NHT's current and legacy product lines. If it's genuinely a standalone NHT subwoofer (not the bookshelf speaker), the asking price may be reasonable, but without knowing which sub model it is, condition details, and age, any pricing verdict would be guesswork. Get those specifics pinned down first—the model designation is everything here.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About NHT

NHT, or Now Hear This, emerged in 1986 from the innovative minds of co-founders Chris Byrne and Ken Kantor, an MIT graduate renowned for inventing the AR Magic Speaker. Based in the United States, initially on the East Coast before relocating to Benicia, California, the brand quickly carved a niche with its psychoacoustically informed approach to loudspeaker design. After a self-imposed hiatus in 2009 amid industry shifts, NHT reemerged under employee ownership, free from corporate intermediaries, reaffirming its commitment to direct-to-consumer evolution.

The company's product focus remains sharply on loudspeakers, particularly acoustic suspension models that prioritize musicality, tight response, and application-specific performance over rigid price tiers. Iconic lines like the SuperZero mini-monitor exemplify this, delivering transparent midrange and balanced highs in compact bookshelf formats. NHT eschews diversification into amplifiers, turntables, DACs, headphones, or cables, instead channeling expertise into patented technologies that optimize sound for real-world listening environments.

NHT holds a respected mid-tier position in the hi-fi market, celebrated for high-value performance that punches above its weight and influences competitors. Its vintage models attract collectors, while current offerings appeal to discerning buyers seeking uncompromised acoustics without high-end premiums. Employee-owned and independent, NHT embodies boutique reliability for the knowledgeable audiophile prioritizing substance over hype.
