Compared with a typical used integrated at this level, £2 is a strong deal: it sits well below the £1,629 25th percentile and far under the £1,929 median, so this looks like a bargain rather than a merely fair ask. Even against pricier recent examples, it lands in unusually friendly territory for a well-regarded amplifier.
That’s why the Tucana is worth a close look: it’s a serious, high-current British integrated with real drive, a full, controlled sound, and enough authority to partner demanding speakers without sounding strained. If the listing is clean and complete, the upside is obvious; the only thing to check is the practical stuff you’d expect on a premium older amp — condition, remote, and evidence it’s been used and cared for properly.

Leema Acoustics emerged in 1998 from the Welsh town of Welshpool, founded by former BBC engineers Lee Taylor and Mallory Nicholls, whose expertise in sound reproduction fueled a passion for pushing audio boundaries. Their debut, the Xen micro-monitor speakers, set the tone by delivering outsized performance from compact designs after years of rigorous research. Transitioning from loudspeakers to electronics, the duo leveraged their technical prowess, partnering with veteran manufacturer Davtec to handcraft products entirely in Wales using UK and European components.
The brand focuses on high-quality hi-fi separates, excelling in integrated amplifiers like the award-winning Tucana series, CD players such as the Antila and forthcoming Electron, digital-to-analogue converters, and phono stages. Early innovations in speaker design evolved into a three-tier lineup emphasizing robust build, precise sound reproduction, and cutting-edge features, with recent expansions like the 25th-anniversary Quantum range underscoring ongoing refinement.
Positioned as a boutique high-end contender among British hi-fi marques, Leema earns acclaim for meticulous engineering and musical excellence, appealing to discerning audiophiles and professionals. Handmade in limited runs, its products blend aesthetic appeal with top-tier performance, securing awards and a foothold in markets from the UK to the US, where they stand out for uncompromised quality in a crowded field.
