U-Turn Audio is an independent American brand founded in 2012 by Bob, Ben, and Pete, who launched the company through a Kickstarter campaign to build an affordable but serious vinyl player. The business is based in Woburn, Massachusetts, and its origin story is firmly rooted in the modern boutique turntable revival rather than in legacy hi-fi manufacturing.
The brand is best known for turntables, especially the Orbit line, which can be configured with different cartridges, platters, speed control, and phono-stage options. U-Turn also sells speakers and preamps, but its identity is overwhelmingly centered on analog playback rather than a broad catalog of amplifiers, DACs, headphones, or cables.
In the market, U-Turn sits in the affordable to upper-entry segment: better than mass-market plastic decks, but not positioned as high-end luxury or vintage-collector gear. Its appeal is strong among vinyl buyers who want clean design, American assembly, and a straightforward path into better sound without paying audiophile-premium prices.
