Seller's Description

Neat Acoustics Petite Classic Standmount Loudspeakers Neat Petite Classic Standmount Speakers, in matt black.   These speakers have lots of tight bass and scale for their size, much more so than the similarly sized Neat Motive SX3 I had before it. They have some kind of dual port tuning arrangement that gives bass roll-off down to 30hz. I don't know how true that is but unlike the Motive I never felt any lack of bass with the Petite Classic, quite extraordinary in fact.    Immaculate condition. They have never been moved or touched since coming out the box onto the stands shown in the pictures

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

A$2,250 feels ambitious for a used Motive 1 unless this pair is exceptional and close to mint. I’d want stronger evidence of condition and provenance, because the clearest comparable used Motive-series sale in the results is a Motive 2 pair at A$850, while the original Motive SX1 retail sat in a much higher bracket than that, so A$2,250 is not obviously a bargain on used-market logic.

The upside is that Neat’s Motive line is well liked for lively, coherent imaging and a nimble, engaging presentation that suits smaller rooms and good stands. If this is an original-owner pair with boxes, grilles, and clean drivers, it could still be a sensible buy for someone who specifically wants the Neat sound—but at this asking price I’d only move if the finish is immaculate and the seller can verify no driver, crossover, or cabinet issues.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Neat Acoustics

Neat Acoustics traces its roots to 1989, when musician Bob Surgeoner founded the company in northern England, drawing inspiration from his lifelong passion for genres like blues, rock, jazz, and folk. Originally named North Eastern Audio Traders—hence the acronym NEAT—the brand emerged from Surgeoner's retail background in County Durham and has since operated from Teesdale, handcrafting speakers for over three decades with a focus on musical authenticity.

The company specializes exclusively in loudspeakers, renowned for compact, innovative designs that punch well above their size. Neat employs distinctive isobaric configurations—rare among British makers—alongside precision-tuned cabinets and bass reflex ports to deliver balanced, enveloping sound with rich bass, harmonic highs, and subtle details. Models range from diminutive standmounts like the Petite Classic to ambitious floorstanders such as the Mystique, all finished in real wood veneers and built to prioritize the essence of music over mere specifications.

Positioned firmly in the high-end market, Neat Acoustics earns acclaim among audiophiles for sonic excellence and craftsmanship, offering ultimate musical reproduction regardless of scale or price. Tuned by musicians and distributed worldwide, its speakers stand as a boutique choice for discerning buyers seeking pure, exciting fidelity that transcends conventional measurements.
