Would you pay €800 for a set that’s usually sitting around €431, with the comparable range running from €320 to €616? That’s ambitious for the market, not a bargain, and it only really makes sense if this is a genuinely complete, standout example with no compromises.
What makes it interesting is the original Scansonic S9/S8-era package: these were well-reviewed for their smooth, full-range presentation and the active sub was purpose-built for the system, so a clean, matched set has real appeal. If the cosmetics are excellent and every speaker is included, the value is in convenience and condition rather than price; otherwise, I’d want room to negotiate hard.
Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.
Scansonic is a Danish loudspeaker brand with roots in the country’s broader hi-fi engineering scene, but its exact founding story is a little muddled in public sources. The brand’s current identity is tied to Dantax in Denmark, and it is presented as drawing on a long Nordic design heritage rather than on a loudly promoted founder-led narrative.
The brand is best known for speakers, especially compact bookshelf models, floorstanders, and home-cinema/subwoofer products. Coverage of the line repeatedly emphasizes its connection to Raidho-style design thinking and driver technology, which positions Scansonic as a specialist loudspeaker maker rather than a full-line electronics brand.
In market terms, Scansonic sits in the upper mid-range to high-end niche: more attainable than true statement audio, but clearly aimed at serious hi-fi buyers who care about design, refinement, and performance. Reviewers and distributors describe it as a respected Danish brand with strong heritage cues and some of the engineering cachet associated with Raidho, which helps it punch above its price tier.
