• Overview – The Eminent Technology LFT8 Speakers are a 3-way planar/dynamic hybrid floorstanding loudspeaker from American manufacturer Eminent Technology, launched in 1993 as the entry point into the company’s Linear Field Transducer range.
• Key Technology – A large 42-inch planar magnetic midrange panel covers an unusually wide 180Hz–10kHz range with shallow first-order slopes, working like a push-pull electrostatic speaker but needing no step-up transformer, paired with an 8-inch sealed-box dynamic woofer.
• Performance – Stereophile’s Corey Greenberg called it one of the most natural, musically satisfying speakers he’d had in his home, praising clean, lush highs and midrange purity, though noting the speakers need a powerful amplifier to perform their best.
• Specs – The Eminent Technology LFT8 Speakers offer a sensitivity of 83dB/W/m and 8Ω impedance, with a phase accuracy of ±20° across 100Hz–31kHz. Crossover: 180Hz and 10kHz, first-order 6dB/octave slopes. Two sets of copper Edison Price Music Posts allow bi-wiring, and the tweeter level can be set flat, -6dB, or -12dB at 20kHz.
• Dimensions – Each speaker measures approximately 330mm (W) × 1524mm (H) × 44mm (D) at the panel, with a 610mm-deep bass bin including feet.
• Weight – Weighs approximately 29.5kg (65lbs) per speaker.
