Elan Home Systems is a home-automation and distributed-audio brand founded in 1989 in the United States. The company was initially created by Square D and built its reputation early around multi-source, multi-zone residential control; some accounts also tie the brand’s origins to Lexington, Kentucky, though later company profiles place headquarters in California.
Its product focus is not traditional hi-fi in the audiophile sense. ELAN is best known for whole-home control systems, including in-wall keypads, touch panels, multi-room controllers, amplifiers, in-wall and in-ceiling speakers, outdoor speakers, wire management, intercom and paging functions, and broader home-automation integration for audio, video, lighting, climate, and security.
In the market, ELAN sits in the custom-install / smart-home segment rather than the high-end two-channel or vintage-collector arena. It is a specialist, dealer-driven brand aimed at integrators and homeowners who want centralized, house-wide AV control; its reputation is tied more to system integration and reliability than to standalone audiophile components.
