This is a fair ask, maybe a touch ambitious: at US$700, it sits above the US$643 median and also over the US$662 75th percentile for recent comparable used listings. It’s not wildly out of line, but it isn’t a bargain either; I’d want either especially clean condition, strong provenance, or extras to justify the premium.
The 24K has a good reputation for a smooth, musical, very “hi-fi” preamp presentation with solid build quality, and it’s the kind of older piece people buy because they want substance and a bit of character. If it’s fully functional and complete, it’s a worthwhile piece to chase; just make sure the remote, phono section, and power-supply behavior are all confirmed, since at this age those details matter more than cosmetic fluff.
Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.
Aragon emerged in the mid-1980s as a bold American audio brand under Mondial Designs, with its inaugural 4004 amplifier launching in 1987 and the iconic 8008 following soon after, forever altering high-fidelity sound reproduction through innovative engineering like the signature V-notch heatsink. Founded with a no-compromise ethos by leaders including Tony Federici, it prioritized pure sonic performance over gimmicks, setting industry trends rather than chasing them. Acquired by Klipsch around 2001-2006 and later shuttered, the brand was revived in 2009 by U.S.-based Indy Audio Labs, which relaunched it in 2013 with modern updates while honoring its heritage.
The brand focuses squarely on high-performance power amplifiers, exemplified by the 200Wpc dual-mono 8008 and premium Iridium monoblocks, alongside sophisticated processors like the Soundstage preamp capable of audiophile-grade decoding for Dolby Digital, DTS, and beyond. All products are designed and handcrafted in the USA, emphasizing fully decoupled power supplies, IC-free signal paths, and robust machined aluminum construction for superior thermal management and durability.
Aragon holds a revered position in the high-end market as a vintage-inspired powerhouse for discerning audiophiles, blending timeless reliability with contemporary software-upgradable features like Ethernet control. Its reputation for unadorned excellence—beautiful, powerful, and easy to operate—earns consistent praise from outlets like The Absolute Sound and Stereophile, appealing to buyers seeking reference-level amplification without excess.
