Should you jump on a discontinued, well-reviewed amp at US$500 when the usual used spread sits around US$97 to US$316 and the median is US$160? This is firmly ambitious, well above the 75th percentile, so it only makes sense if you specifically want this model and the rest of the package is unusually strong.
The upside is real: the LA90 is widely praised for vanishingly low noise, excellent transparency, and strong measured performance, which is exactly why it still attracts serious listeners. The caveat is simple: at this price, you should expect a clean unit with the original external supply, proper inputs, and proof it’s fully healthy; otherwise, the premium is hard to justify.
