At US$185, this sits a bit above the US$149 median but still well within the main used-market band, below the US$219 75th percentile. That makes it a fair-to-slightly-strong asking price rather than a bargain or an overreach.
What keeps it interesting is the SI-1230’s reputation as a workhorse whole-house amp: 12 channels, solid multi-zone flexibility, and enough honest output for distributed audio without drama. For a clean unit with the power cord included, this is the kind of piece that can be a smart buy if you need exactly this form factor and want to avoid hunting down a tested example later.

Niles Audio traces its origins to 1978, when it launched in Miami, Florida, as a pioneer in switching systems for audio retailers. From these humble beginnings, the company evolved into a cornerstone of custom home audio, earning its stripes as a founding member of CEDIA and building a legacy of installer-focused innovation over four decades. Acquired by Linear LLC in recent years, Niles continues to uphold its heritage while expanding under new ownership.
The brand specializes in comprehensive whole-home audio solutions, offering over 500 products that span architectural speakers, amplifiers, receivers, automation controls, and accessories for seamless integration. Its portfolio emphasizes multi-room distribution, home theater systems, outdoor landscape audio, and cutting-edge options like the nearly invisible Cynema Soundfield in-wall soundbar, all designed for custom integrators to deliver professional-grade performance across indoor and outdoor spaces.
Niles holds a strong mid-to-high-end position in the custom installation market, renowned among savvy homeowners and professionals for reliable, high-quality distributed audio that blends effortlessly into modern living. Far from a vintage collector's niche, it remains a go-to for discerning buyers seeking robust, integrator-friendly systems that prioritize exceptional entertainment without compromise.
