A$250 is a strong buy if this is the Matrix Audio USB interface/card, because similar used Matrix pieces typically land well above that once you get into working, presentable condition. At this price, it looks comfortably below the kind of money these bits of Matrix kit usually pull on the second-hand market, so it reads as a genuine deal rather than a merely fair listing.
The appeal is that Matrix gear is generally well-liked for clean, low-noise performance and straightforward integration in a serious digital front end. If the unit is complete and the card/board still seats properly, A$250 is the kind of number that leaves room for a smart upgrade path while keeping risk low; just confirm exact model, compatibility, and that any needed bracket or cable is included.

Matrix Audio traces its roots to Xi'an, China, where three high school classmates bonded over music and audio tinkering in the early 2000s. Their passion led to building homemade speakers during a 2001 summer holiday, evolving into formal collaboration after university in 2006 with the debut of the groundbreaking DAC DA-100Plus. The brand was officially registered in 2013 under Matrix Electronic Technology Co., LTD, embodying the founders' vision of balancing sonic precision and aesthetic harmony—reflected in the "matrix" name, drawn from mathematics, and their slogan "Into The Music."
The company specializes in high-performance digital audio source devices, starting with DACs and headphone amplifiers like the best-selling mini-i series. From 2016, they expanded into streaming solutions with companion apps, and by 2018 introduced integrated music streamers featuring power amplification, quad-core processors, and MA Player software. Today, their lineup emphasizes all-in-one Hi-Fi components that blend research, design, and manufacturing in-house, prioritizing seamless integration into modern homes.
Matrix Audio holds a strong position as a mid-to-high-end contender, prized for exceptional value, engineering excellence, and user-friendly execution that rivals legacy brands. Globally recognized for sound quality, build, and minimalist design, it appeals to discerning enthusiasts seeking complete digital ecosystems without complexity, earning acclaim from audiophiles worldwide.
