Ich verkaufe mein "Sennheiser MD 409 U3", Made in Germany.
The MD 409 U3 is a genuinely notable vintage dynamic: a compact, high-SPL microphone with a smooth, focused sound and strong isolation, especially useful on guitar cabinets, percussion, and brass. At €549, though, this listing is ambitious, not a bargain: it sits far above the 363-listing median of €132 and the 75th percentile of €254. Even excellent condition needs to justify a substantial collector premium.
The appeal is real. Its flat design, rugged grille, low handling noise, and ability to take loud sources without harshness have kept the 409 family highly regarded, while the U3’s XLR connection makes it practical in modern setups. For €549, the microphone should be exceptionally clean, fully tested, and ideally include the original quick-release clamp and convincing provenance. Otherwise, comparable examples should be considerably more attractive.
Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.
Founded in June 1945 by Dr. Fritz Sennheiser in a farmhouse near Hanover, Germany, Sennheiser began as Laboratorium Wennebostel, producing voltmeters and early microphones amid post-World War II reconstruction. Seven engineers from the University of Hannover joined the founder, quickly pivoting to broadcast microphones like the DM 2 in 1946 and the groundbreaking MD 82 shotgun mic in 1956. Renamed Sennheiser electronic in 1958, the family-owned company passed to second- and third-generation leadership, maintaining its innovative spirit over eight decades.
Sennheiser excels in professional and consumer audio, renowned for microphones, wireless systems, and headphones that set industry standards. Pioneers of the first open-back headphones (HD 414 in 1968) and enduring studio icons like the MD 421 and MD 441, they also produce high-end headphones, earbuds, soundbars, and conferencing solutions. While strong in pro audio like mixers and geophysical gear, their consumer focus centers on headphones and wireless tech rather than amplifiers, speakers, turntables, DACs, or cables.
Sennheiser commands a premium position in the hi-fi market, blending mid-tier accessibility with high-end excellence for discerning buyers and professionals. Trusted for reliability and sonic precision, it appeals to audiophiles seeking reference-grade headphones without boutique obscurity, backed by a heritage of technological firsts that sustains its global leadership.
