€9,600 looks fair rather than an obvious bargain, assuming this is the standard LS1/LS1v2 pair rather than an LS1be or newer LS1c. There is no reliable percentile data here, and used prices vary sharply with generation, finish, controller, and accessories, so verify the exact version before committing.
The attraction is that the LS1 is essentially a complete active system: DSP crossover and correction, built-in NCore amplification, analog and digital inputs, remote control, and a proper subwoofer output. It is exceptionally neutral, phase-coherent, fast, and easy to integrate, while the controlled dispersion can make placement unusually forgiving. At this money, insist on the original remote, USB interface, cabling, and working control software; confirming both speakers, DSP, inputs, and master-slave communication operate correctly matters more than cosmetic perfection.
Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.
Founded in 2004 in Veldhoven, The Netherlands, Grimm Audio emerged from the expertise of audio pioneers Eelco Grimm, Bruno Putzeys, Guido Tent, and Peter van Willenswaard. Drawing on their backgrounds at Philips and Hypex—where they advanced Class D amplification and precision electronics—the founders merged scientific rigor in acoustics, physics, and electronics with decades of critical listening. This heritage birthed early innovations like the AD1 1-bit A/D converter for DSD recording, the CC1 master clock, and TPR studio cables, establishing Grimm as a bridge between professional engineering and audiophile passion.
Grimm Audio specializes in high-end active loudspeakers, digital music players, and streaming DACs, alongside pro audio tools. Standouts include the LS1 series playback systems, delivering coherent full-range sound from 20Hz to highs with integrated amplification; the MU1 and MU2, ultra-low-jitter sources supporting Roon, UPnP, and AES for pristine digital retrieval; and legacy converters and clocks used in elite studios like Wisseloord and Channel Classics. Their holistic approach optimizes the entire audio chain for transparency.
Positioned as a niche boutique leader in the ultra-high-end market, Grimm commands reverence among discerning hi-fi enthusiasts and top recording professionals for perceptual neutrality and emotional fidelity. Acclaimed as "the world’s best complete audio system" by critics, their gear sets benchmarks in studios worldwide and luxury homes, prioritizing uncompromised musical truth over compromise.
