Are you looking for a bargain, or specifically this compact desktop amplifier? At USD 140, this is an ambitious ask: recent comparable listings place the median at USD 69, with the upper quartile at USD 120. Unless this example is exceptionally clean, complete, and unusually well-presented, it is priced above the normal used-market range.
The N22 remains a useful little integrated amplifier for a nearfield or small-room system, with sensible connectivity, a headphone output, and enough power for efficient bookshelf speakers. Its compact format and straightforward operation are genuine strengths, but they do not usually justify a substantial premium over comparable examples. Check that the power supply, speaker terminals, volume control, and headphone output all work properly; at USD 140, completeness and excellent condition should be expected rather than treated as bonuses.

Founded in 2005 in Austin, Texas, Audioengine emerged from the vision of co-founders Brady and Dave, audio industry veterans with decades of experience at Harman, Apple, Gibson Guitars, and Alesis. Frustrated by the complexity and cost of high-quality sound, they launched the original A5 powered speakers that year, pioneering compact systems for direct connection to computers, iPods, and TVs without extra gear. This Texas-based independent company has since upheld a mission to craft hand-tuned products that deliver authentic, premium audio straight out of the box.
Audioengine specializes in powered home music systems, including desktop and bookshelf speakers like the iconic A2 and A5 series, alongside amplifiers, DACs, wireless streamers, turntable accessories, and cables. Their all-in-one designs emphasize simplicity, with built-in amplification, multiple inputs, and high-resolution wireless options for seamless integration across devices from computers to TVs and phones. Handcrafted cabinets house custom woofers and tweeters, prioritizing real-world listening over studio exclusivity.
Positioned as a mid-tier leader in accessible hi-fi, Audioengine earns praise for audiophile-grade performance at reasonable prices, bridging casual listeners and enthusiasts. Neither ultra-high-end nor vintage niche, it dominates the powered speaker market with reliable, no-fuss systems that outperform expectations without breaking the bank, fostering daily music immersion for home, office, or desktop setups.
