Origin Live traces its roots to 1986 in Southampton, UK, when audio enthusiast Mark Baker, a former warship designer, founded the company initially as Cable Design in his garage. The debut product was a pioneering solid-core hi-fi cable, followed swiftly by equipment supports and a name change to Origin Live—evoking the goal of hearing the original source as played live. Over three decades, it evolved from humble tinkering into a dedicated factory operation with CNC machinery and skilled staff, exporting to over 40 countries.
The brand excels in analog replay, renowned for high-performance turntables like the Voyager series and Aurora Mark II, alongside innovative tonearms such as the MkV range with multi-layer counterweights for superior vibration control. It also offers phono stages, speaker stands, platforms, upgrades, and select loudspeakers including the Astute model, emphasizing in-house design for musical fidelity over mass production.
Positioned as a niche boutique in the high-end hi-fi market, Origin Live commands respect among vinyl purists for its award-winning products—from early Hi-Fi Choice triumphs to ongoing acclaim in publications like Analog Planet and Stereo Times. While not a household name like Rega, its distinctive, ambitious analog focus appeals to discerning buyers seeking authentic, live-like sound reproduction.
