Museum piece excellent ++++++ condition Mc275 power amp being sold by original owner purchased brand new in the box from Harvey Radio NYC 1970. . All original tubes including GENALEX KT88 power tubes . Shop tested putting out 75 plus watts per channel . All original never modified and have the original Box . This unit is in a working . Non smoking non pet climate controlled environment. If it wasn’t for the normal small pitting around the fuse post it would be mint condition as shown in the photos .
The MC275 remains one of McIntosh’s most admired classic tube amplifiers, but US$8,500 is clearly ambitious here. Recent comparable asking prices center around US$5,200, with the upper quartile at US$5,706, so this listing sits roughly US$2,800 above the median and well beyond the normal range. Unless it is an exceptional, fully documented example with unusually desirable vintage or restoration history, the price is difficult to justify.
Its appeal is real: the MC275 delivers the spacious, authoritative presentation and distinctive McIntosh build quality that make this design a lasting reference among tube enthusiasts. Before considering it, verify the exact generation, originality, transformer and serial details, service history, tube complement, and operating condition. At a price closer to US$4,500–US$5,700, it would be a compelling buy; at US$8,500, patience is warranted.
