Excellent condition helps, but at A$3,200 this is still a bit above the typical recent asking level for this model in AUD. Against a median of A$2,926 and a 75th percentile of A$3,064, it reads as mildly ambitious rather than a bargain. It’s not wildly out of line for a clean example, but I’d want either strong provenance or included extras to justify the premium.
That said, the LA-4 Pre is well regarded for its poise, transparency, and strong control, so a tidy one can be a very satisfying long-term preamp buy. If it’s genuinely excellent cosmetically and electrically, and comes with the original remote, packaging, or service history, the premium becomes easier to stomach. For a buyer who values condition and wants to avoid a tired unit, this is still a decent shortlist candidate.
