Excellent condition makes this a reassuring example of the original RØDE NT2, but €190 is an ambitious ask against the supplied market: recent comparable listings sit at a €104 median, with the 75th percentile at €155. It is therefore above the normal upper range rather than a bargain; value depends on completeness and proven operation.
The NT2 remains a useful vintage large-diaphragm condenser, with a natural studio voice, switchable cardioid/omni operation, plus pad and high-pass filtering. It can suit vocals, acoustic instruments, and room work, and clean examples with the original shock mount, case, and accessories have genuine appeal. At €190, those extras should be present and the capsule, switches, phantom-power operation, and connector should all check out; otherwise, a price nearer €155 would be more convincing.

RØDE Microphones traces its roots to 1967, when Henry Freedman, a London-born sound engineer, and his Swedish wife Astrid founded Freedman Electronics in Australia after emigrating from Europe. Their son Peter, inspired by a Chinese large-diaphragm condenser microphone spotted at a 1981 Shanghai trade show, imported and refined it into the NT1 in the early 1990s, formally launching the RØDE brand—its distinctive 'Ø' nodding to the family's Scandinavian heritage. From modest PA installations, the company evolved into a global force, acquiring Event Electronics in 2006 and Mackie in 2023.
The brand excels in professional and consumer microphones, particularly condensers like the NT1 and NT2 series, alongside dynamic models such as the Podcaster and Procaster tailored for broadcasting and podcasting. RØDE also produces video microphones, USB interfaces, and accessories, with manufacturing rooted in Australia using locally sourced metals. While not focused on traditional hi-fi categories like amplifiers, speakers, turntables, DACs, headphones, or cables, its audio gear bridges studio, content creation, and live sound.
RØDE holds a strong mid-tier position in the pro audio market, prized by podcasters, filmmakers, and engineers for reliable, high-value performance that rivals pricier competitors. Its Australian-made quality and innovative accessibility have built a loyal following among knowledgeable creators seeking pro-grade tools without boutique premiums, cementing its reputation as a modern essential rather than vintage or high-end esoterica.
