Durch den optionalen Einbau einer 2,5" HDD oder SSD kann das Gerät zusätzlich zum vollwertigen Musikserver werden.
Der POLARIS verfügt über ein OLED-Display mit einer Auflösung von 512 x 64 Pixel für Statusinformationen sowie eine zusätzliche Fernbedienung (AURALiC RC-1) für Grundfunktionen wie Play, Pause und Titelsprung. Als digitale Eingänge stehen Tri-Band High-Speed WiFi (802.11b/g/n/ac), Gigabit-Ethernet, 3x USB, S/PDIF-Anschlüsse in koaxialer und optischer Ausführung sowie ein AES/EBU-Interface zur Verfügung. Über USB und Streaming werden PCM-Formate von 44,1 bis 384kHz bei 16, 24 und 32Bit Auflösung sowie DSD64 - DSD256 verarbeitet. Die anderen Digitaleingänge sind auf max. 24bit/192 kHz beschränkt.
