Audiophile circuit design The A30.2 power amplifier is a dual-mono design, which means that it incorporates two compact mono power amp channels each with a separate transformer and power supply. This provides the ideal conditions for optimum stability and channel separation. The heat sinks are massive to keep the temperature at a moderate level even under the most difficult working conditions. The amplifier is capable of delivering 120watts into an 8 ohms load and incorporates full speaker protection against faulty input signals. One individual DC-servo for each channel together with protection circuit and temperature monitoring provide state-of- the-art protection. It can internally be configured as a fully balanced mono power amplifier using either balanced (XLR) or unbalanced (RCA) inputs. In this mode the A30.2 is capable of delivering 1 x 380W into an 8ohm load. Massive high quality gold plated speaker terminals suitable for most audiophile speaker cables are also provided. The amplifier can be remotely operated with its 12V trigger input, which has a loop-through output for controlling a second A30.2 or other amplifier. Shortest signal paths SMD technology is used whenever possible to keep the shortest possible signal path for the highest possible performance. Clean power supply for the best possible performance Each channel has its own toroidal transformer and a massive electrolytic bank of 40000uF. The driver stage has separate transformer windings and regulation in four steps. This configuration produces a high signal to noise ratio and minimises cross-talk from other channels. Careful design for operational stability As with all Primare units, the A30.2 is housed in an alloy heavy gauge steel chassis, which provides strength, rigidity, and screening, while being effective at damping vibrations from external sourcesSpecifications Output power per channel 120W into 8_, 200W into 4_Output impedance <0.03_Line inputs 1V for 120W into 8_XLR inputs 2V for 120W into 8_Input impedance 11k_Frequency response <10Hz – 100kHz, -3dBTHD <0.08%Signal-to-noise, line -100dBPower consumption 800WDimensions (WxDxH) 430 x 385 x 100mm

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

The A30.2 is a notably stout dual-mono power amplifier, and at US$622 this one is a genuine bargain: it sits below the US$654 25th-percentile comparable, versus a US$683 median and US$749 75th percentile. That is strong value even before considering its substantial build and useful connectivity.

Primare gave it separate transformers and power supplies per channel, with 120 watts into 8 ohms, 200 watts into 4 ohms, and balanced XLR as well as RCA inputs. It is a convincing choice for demanding speakers, with the added flexibility of bridged operation if needed. Since the listing says “unknown” for condition, confirm quiet operation, both channels, input selection, speaker terminals, and any signs of overheating before buying—but if it checks out, this is priced to move rather than merely priced fairly.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Primare

Primare traces its origins to 1985, when Danish industrial designer and audiophile Bo Christensen, frustrated by the era's cluttered audio gear, founded the company alongside engineer Bent Nielsen. Born in Denmark as Primare Systems AB, it embodied a mission for exceptional sound quality, elegant Scandinavian aesthetics, precise proportions, and intuitive interfaces. Rejecting the industry's short product cycles, Primare pioneered "living products" designed for longevity and evolution, with its debut 928 series—now exhibited in Copenhagen's Designmuseum Denmark—setting a minimalist benchmark against button-heavy contemporaries. A 1993 partnership with Swedish firm Xena, involving Lars Pedersen, propelled the influential 30 series in 1998, cementing its design legacy while shifting manufacturing to southern Sweden.

The brand specializes in high-fidelity separates, excelling in integrated amplifiers, power amplifiers, preamplifiers, CD players, network streamers, and DACs that handle analog, digital, wired, and wireless sources with balanced precision. Iconic lines like the 200, 300, and ongoing 30 and 15 series prioritize simple circuitry and modular upgrades, from tuners and Blu-ray players to modern computer audio solutions, always favoring functionality over gimmicks.

Primare occupies a premium mid-to-high-end niche, revered by discerning buyers for its honest integrity, timeless Scandinavian design, and deeply satisfying performance that endures across decades. Award-winning components, such as the EISA-honored CD32/I32, deliver audiophile purity without ostentation, positioning Primare as a practical choice for those seeking lasting quality over fleeting trends in a market craving authenticity.
