Seller's Description

Pioneer PD-M700 Multi-Play Compact Disc Player 6-Disc CD Changer PARTS/REPAIRPlayer is in good physical condition, but is unable to play a CD. After removing the metal bonnet, and loading the cartridge with a CD, it is clear that the loading mechanism works great, but the disc will not spin once dropped underneath the laser. It is also worth noting that the power chord has one small slit in the rubber coating, so a piece of electrical tape would be recommended. Unit will be sold AS-IS described, and will not be eligible for returns whatsoever. Player is in great shape cosmetically, showing only some signs of age-related wear around the exterior. No notable points of damage inflicted along any edge or face of the units metal housing or front display. All buttons feel rigid as they should, and the display screen shines brightly when the unit is on. Does not include any accessories of any kind. See all pictures closely for details of condition, and specifications of the item. Our Thoughts RADAR AI

At USD99, this is a strong bargain against the recent comparable market: it sits below the USD104 25th percentile and well under the USD199 median. The catch is that “PARTS/REPAIR” makes this a project purchase, not a ready-to-play bargain, so the price is attractive only if you are comfortable repairing or harvesting it.

The PD-M700 is a capable late-1980s six-disc changer with useful programming, solid measured performance, and both coaxial and optical digital outputs. Its magazine format is convenient, and working examples can be enjoyable, unfussy CD transports. Before buying, confirm whether it powers up, accepts the magazine, spins discs, and reads tracks; PD/M-series faults can involve the spindle motor, optical pickup flex cable, or deteriorated suspension parts. At USD99, though, it offers worthwhile upside for a hobbyist with a donor machine or repair skills.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Pioneer

Pioneer traces its roots to 1937 in Tokyo, Japan, when founder Nozomu Matsumoto, inspired by the thrill of imported hi-fi speakers, developed the A-8 dynamic speaker and launched a radio and speaker repair shop. The business formalized as Fukuin Shokai Denki Seisakusho in 1938, evolving into Pioneer Corporation and embodying Matsumoto's philosophy of "Move the Heart and Touch the Soul" through audio innovation.

The brand excels across diverse hi-fi categories, pioneering Japan's first headphones in 1960 with the SE-1 and the world's first component-based stereo system in 1965 via the PSC-5A. Pioneer's portfolio spans amplifiers, speakers, turntables, and DACs, alongside landmark car audio advancements like the 1975 Supertuner-equipped stereo and the 1986 in-car CD player, blending home and automotive excellence.

Today, Pioneer holds a commanding mid-to-high-tier position in the market, revered for reliable, performance-driven gear that balances premium quality with accessibility. Its vintage components attract collectors, while current offerings appeal to discerning buyers seeking robust, innovative sound reproduction without boutique excess.
