The Laiv HARMONY Digital has earned a strong reputation as a revealing, natural-sounding discrete R-2R DAC, and US$1,300 looks like a solid buy rather than a stretch. It sits above the US$1,027 median of 12 recent comparables, but remains comfortably below the US$1,852 75th percentile—well clear of the market’s ambitious territory.
Its appeal is the combination of punchy, organic presentation, excellent build, balanced and single-ended outputs, plus useful NOS/OS modes and broad digital connectivity. The modular architecture and unusually capable USB support add practical longevity, while the HARMONY’s performance is often considered competitive with substantially dearer DACs. Since the listing gives no condition detail, confirm that the remote, power supply, packaging, and accessories are included; in clean working condition, US$1,300 is a worthwhile enthusiast-level purchase.

Laiv Audio emerged in 2023 from Singapore, founded by Weng Fai Hoh, a veteran engineer previously with Alvin Audio. Drawing on his deep expertise in industrial automation and hi-fi design, Hoh established the brand to champion Singaporean craftsmanship through user-centric innovation. Pronounced "live," Laiv embodies a passion for concert-like sonic excitement, with all products engineered in-house by a dedicated team, blending precision manufacturing—often in China—with a commitment to musical truth over mere specifications.
The brand specializes in compact, high-performance digital audio components within its Harmony lineup, including the flagship Harmony DAC, HP2A balanced headphone amplifier and preamp, µDAC, µDDC, and GaNM power supply. These modular designs prioritize natural sound reproduction, low noise floors (as low as 5µV in preamp mode), and seamless integration into modern setups, emphasizing long-term listening comfort and real-world usability without oversized footprints.
Laiv occupies a rising niche in the high-end hi-fi market as a boutique newcomer, earning accolades like ExtremeHiFi's Best New Brand for its engineering prowess and audiophile appeal. It targets discerning listeners seeking uncompromising performance at accessible price points, selling direct from Singapore while expanding via select EU and US distributors. Reviewers praise its ability to challenge established competitors, positioning Laiv as a fresh force in modular, truth-focused audio.
