Excellent condition helps, but €549 is clearly ambitious against the used market: recent comparable asking prices have a €338 median, with the upper quartile at €469. At €549, this is roughly €80 above even that 75th-percentile marker, so it only makes sense for a buyer prioritising pristine condition, local convenience, or unusually complete packaging and accessories.
The V202 is a genuinely capable, compact amplifier rather than a token entry-level box. Its adjustable pre-gain, very low output impedance, strong current delivery, and high-voltage swing suit everything from sensitive low-impedance headphones to demanding planars and high-impedance dynamics. XLR and RCA inputs, plus 6.35 mm and 4.4 mm outputs, make it flexible in a mixed system. Still, excellent condition does not fully justify this premium; negotiating toward the €400–€450 range would make it a much more convincing buy.
Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.
Violectric emerged in 2009 as a hi-fi sub-brand of Lake People, the esteemed German pro-audio manufacturer founded in 1986 near Lake Constance. Headed by chief engineer Fried Reim, who oversees development and production in Constance, Violectric adapts Lake People's robust professional circuitry for discerning home listeners, prioritizing engineering substance over hype.
The brand specializes in headphone amplifiers, such as the seminal V200 and newer models like the HPA V324, alongside high-quality DACs including the V800 and V850. Its lineup extends to phono stages like the PPA V630 and preamps such as the PPA V600, with the ultra-premium Niimbus series—exemplified by the US5—pushing boundaries in amplification. Absent are speakers, turntables, or cables; Violectric hones in on source-to-headphone electronics.
Positioned firmly in the high-end hi-fi market, Violectric commands respect among pragmatic audiophiles for its "tools, not toys" ethos—delivering uncompromised build quality, timeless design, and sonic precision at prices from around £700 to over £3,000. Free of esoteric claims, it appeals to buyers seeking pro-grade performance in elegant, enduring packages.
