Compared with buying new, £1,690 is fair rather than a standout bargain: it sits exactly at the median of three recent comparable listings, with the market’s middle half running from £1,554 to £1,712. The price is therefore defensible, though a buyer could reasonably negotiate toward the lower end if the unit is incomplete or lacks provenance.
For a compatible Gold Note DS-10-family component, the PSU-10 EVO is a worthwhile upgrade, using four transformers, low-noise regulation and Dual Choke Hybrid filtering to provide a cleaner, more stable supply. It is particularly appealing when the connected source is already settled and you want the manufacturer’s intended performance ceiling rather than a generic power-supply experiment. Confirm the correct umbilical cable is included, check serial-number and operating history, and note that this EVO model is not compatible with the PH-10 phono stage.

Gold Note traces its roots to Florence, Tuscany, where Maurizio Aterini founded the company in 2012 after decades in high-end audio design. Building on his earlier ventures—starting with the 1992 Bluenote studio that crafted innovative tonearms like the enduring B-5—Aterini channeled over 25 years of expertise into a brand rooted in Italian craftsmanship. From its rural Montespertoli base, Gold Note manufactures every component in-house, blending Renaissance-inspired innovation with Tuscan tradition to pursue uncompromised sound.
The brand excels in a vertically integrated lineup spanning analogue and digital domains, including acclaimed turntables, amplifiers, DACs, preamplifiers, phono stages, and loudspeakers. Signature products like the B-5 tonearm persist across models, while electronics emphasize clean circuitry, robust power supplies, and functional Italian design. This complete system approach allows audiophiles to assemble full Gold Note chains, delivering their hallmark "Italian Sound"—full-bodied, dynamic, and spatially precise.
Positioned firmly in the high-end market, Gold Note commands respect among experts and enthusiasts for reliability, sonic excellence, and relentless R&D. Sold in over 40 countries, it stands as Italy's leading high-end manufacturer, offering boutique quality without exorbitant pricing through optimized production. For discerning buyers seeking emotional musicality, Gold Note delivers addictive, tradition-honoring performance.
