Seller's Description

Mark Levinson No. 336 Power Amplifier I was going to keep this since I couldn’t sell it for a fair price last year. However the wife wants part of the garage converted to a gym so my storage space has been greatly reduced.    Fully recapped just last year, just parts cost alone was over 2k, excluding labour. I’ve priced it for what I think is a bargain, considering there’s a no. 333 which is the model before this going for 6.5k as well discounted from 8k at Len Wallis. If you have a speaker which dips low in impedance &/or is hard to drive, this will really wake them up.      Condition: Excell

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

Compared with a new amp anywhere near this class, A$6,500 is not cheap, but for a No. 336 it sits in the sensible end of the used market rather than the stratosphere. A clean, documented example at this money looks like a fair buy; if anything, the real question is whether condition and service history justify paying full ask versus waiting for a better-documented one.

It’s a well-regarded 350W-per-channel heavyweight with the sort of effortless grip, scale, and control that makes big speakers wake up, and at 68kg it’s very much a “once-and-done” power amp. The upside is obvious if it’s truly excellent and complete: original box, manuals, remote-trigger bits, and proof of care all matter here, because shipping and handling are no joke on an amp this old and heavy.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Mark Levinson

Mark Levinson Audio Systems originated in 1972 in New Haven, Connecticut, USA, founded by musician and audio innovator Mark Levinson. A professional multi-instrumentalist with a keen ear for sound reproduction, he launched the brand to bridge the gap between studio fidelity and home listening, debuting with the groundbreaking LNP-2 preamplifier—the world's first high-end audio product. Though Levinson later pursued ventures like Cello and Red Rose Music after parting ways with the company in 1980, the Mark Levinson name endures as a cornerstone of American hi-fi heritage.

The brand specializes in premium solid-state electronics, renowned for meticulously engineered amplifiers, preamplifiers, integrated amplifiers, and digital-to-analog converters (DACs). Its Pure Path circuit design and innovations like the R-2R ladder volume control define a lineup that prioritizes uncolored, reference-level performance. While early offerings included power amps like the ML-2 monoblocks, today's portfolio under Harman International ownership extends to high-end streaming components and turntable-compatible gear, all crafted for audiophiles seeking precision over compromise.

Positioned firmly in the ultra-high-end market, Mark Levinson commands reference status among discerning buyers, synonymous with no-compromise build quality, natural timbre, and benchmark transparency. Over five decades, it has set industry standards, attracting collectors and enthusiasts who value its legacy of pushing sonic boundaries through superior materials and engineering excellence.
