Vintage McIntosh MC240 stereo tube power amplifier (40 watts per channel) in very good condition. Light wear throughout and a small dent on the corner of one transformer. The chrome and McIntosh stenciling/lettering is very clear and crisp — please see the photos. This amp has been freshly serviced: brand new tubes installed and the capacitors professionally replaced, so it is ready to plug in and enjoy. A clean, serviced example of the classic MC240.
Are you looking for a genuine bargain on a classic, or merely a clean example at market price? At US$3,495, this MC240 sits just below the database’s 25th-percentile comparable of US$3,476—effectively at the low end of the recent US$3,476–US$3,791 range and below the US$3,600 median. That makes it a strong deal, assuming it is complete and functioning properly.
The appeal is substantial: the MC240 delivers 40 watts per channel, can operate as an 80-watt mono amplifier, and is prized for its spacious presentation, natural tone, and excellent timbral realism. It is also a flexible classic, with 4-, 8-, and 16-ohm outputs. Because these amplifiers are decades old, confirmation of competent service, healthy transformers, quiet operation, and good output tubes matters—but at this price, a properly working example is a buying opportunity rather than an overreach.
