Bought new as NOS earlier this year and only used for about 1 hour before acquiring a new power amp that required a longer length XLR.I thought it sounded excellent. Retail was around $600.Shipping $10 Australia wide.
This is an ambitious ask, sitting just above the A$237 75th-percentile comparable and A$40 above the A$200 median. At A$240, it is not compelling unless the pair is exceptionally clean, a desirable length, or includes original packaging and proof of ownership; a buyer should be aiming closer to the low A$200s.
That said, Shawline XLRs are serious, well-regarded interconnects: hand-assembled, properly balanced, and built around Chord’s Tuned ARAY geometry, silver-plated conductors, and effective shielding. They tend to offer good detail, timing, separation, and a clean, coherent presentation without being physically cumbersome. If the cables are genuine, undamaged, and the connectors are tight, there is little product-specific risk—but at this price, condition and accessories need to justify the premium.

The Chord Company, a British hi-fi cable specialist, traces its origins to 1985 in Salisbury, England, where founder Sally Kennedy—then Sally Gibb—began handcrafting interconnects in her kitchen. Sparked by a dinner conversation with Naim Audio retailers seeking quality DIN-to-RCA cables for the US market, she launched the venture with Naim's endorsement, emphasizing fully British design and construction. The company rapidly outgrew multiple facilities before settling into its purpose-built headquarters near Stonehenge in Wiltshire in 2004.
Chord focuses exclusively on audio cabling, producing an extensive range of speaker cables, interconnects, power cords, digital links, and tonearm wires. Its products prioritize neutrality, delivering signal paths that neither add nor subtract from the music, crafted by a team of music enthusiasts using high-quality, UK-sourced materials. This singular dedication sets it apart from broader electronics brands.
Renowned internationally as a high-end boutique leader in cables, Chord Company occupies a premium niche, balancing exceptional performance with value across budgets. Its reputation for transparency, build quality, and musical fidelity earns praise among discerning audiophiles, positioning it as a go-to for system upgrades without extravagant pricing.
