Are you looking at a complete, working pair? At €215, this is a strong bargain: it sits well below the €301 25th-percentile comparable, versus a €493 median and €684 75th percentile. Even allowing for model-generation differences, that is unusually attractive pricing for a clean example.
The Ultima 40 is a substantial three-way floorstander with efficient drive units, generous bass, and enough sensitivity to work with modest amplifiers. It suits rock, pop, films, and larger rooms particularly well, delivering scale and dynamics without immediately demanding a subwoofer. Check that the listing includes both speakers, grilles, and soundly functioning drivers; otherwise, excellent condition at €215 is buying-opportunity territory rather than a price to negotiate down.
Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.
Teufel is a German audio brand with roots in Berlin, where it was founded in 1979 by Carl Teufel. Emerging during the heyday of home hi-fi enthusiasm, the company built its heritage on engineering-driven innovation, initially focusing on custom speaker designs that prioritized precision and dynamic sound reproduction for discerning listeners.
The brand excels in active speakers and soundbars, alongside wireless multi-room systems, headphones, and portable Bluetooth options. While not delving into amplifiers, turntables, DACs, or cables, Teufel emphasizes integrated solutions with built-in amplification and app-controlled streaming, catering to modern home entertainment setups.
Positioned as a mid-tier contender with premium aspirations, Teufel enjoys a strong reputation in Europe for delivering high-value performance—bold bass, spacious imaging, and robust build quality—that punches above its price point. It appeals to knowledgeable buyers seeking reliable, stylish hi-fi without ultra-high-end excess, holding a solid niche in the competitive consumer audio market.
