Selling an Avid Pulsus phono preamp in good used condition.Comes with the original shipping box. From a non-smoking pet-free home studio.Few scratches here and there, but the unit works and sounds great.Asking 1250€Shipping in the EU with UPS approx 50€, please ask for details. On sale elsewhere as well.
Compared with the obvious alternative of buying another established phono stage around this money, the AVID Pulsus is priced slightly above the normal used sweet spot: US$1,463 versus a recent median of US$1,409, and above the 75th percentile of US$1,435. That makes it ambitious rather than a bargain, especially with the listing marked unknown condition; a modest negotiation would improve the value considerably.
The Pulsus remains a worthwhile target because its quiet, neutral presentation and unusually comprehensive cartridge matching make it genuinely versatile. Gain options cover MM and MC, while selectable resistance and capacitance accommodate a wide range of cartridges; its regulated external power supply is another welcome feature. At this asking price, confirm both the main unit and PSU are included, check that all loading switches function, and look for evidence of clean, reliable operation before committing.

AVID HiFi, founded in 1995 by Conrad Mas in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, England, emerged from humble garage beginnings with a singular mission to eliminate vibration from audio replay chains. Mas, a lifelong turntable obsessive since his teenage years, bootstrapped the company through prototypes shown at international shows, evolving from earlier ventures like Master Audio Systems and Acutus Audio amid 1980s financial challenges. Handcrafted in British factories for three decades, AVID remains founder-owned and operated, embodying uncompromising engineering heritage.
The brand excels in high-performance analogue audio, renowned for its turntables like the flagship Acutus, which spawned an extensive range, alongside precision tonearms, phono stages, and cartridges. Its portfolio extends to synergistic amplifiers, loudspeakers, cables, and isolation devices, enabling complete groove-to-ear systems that prioritize vibration control and sonic purity.
Positioned as a niche boutique leader in the high-end hi-fi market, AVID commands respect among discerning audiophiles for its bold designs, micro-precision manufacturing, and global distribution across 50 countries. Delivered with true fidelity, its products stand as world-class instruments for those seeking uncompromised realism.
