Are you looking for a capable whole-house controller rather than a conventional two-channel amplifier? At £60, this is a strong deal: it sits well below the £79 25th-percentile price from 92 recent comparable listings, versus a £109 median and £175 75th percentile. Even allowing for the terse “powers on” description, the entry price leaves useful room for testing and setup.
The MZC-66 is a genuinely useful custom-install unit, offering six independent stereo zones, six source inputs, and twelve 30-watt amplifier channels. Its digital amplification, source routing, IR control, paging, and expansion capability make it especially appealing for a distributed-audio project rather than casual hi-fi use. “Powers on” is not a full functional test, so confirm that the channels, inputs, controls, and any required keypads or accessories are present—but at £60, this is a worthwhile gamble for the right installation.

SpeakerCraft traces its roots to 1976 in Riverside, California, where audio enthusiasts Ken Humphries and Ed Haase opened a small stereo store amid the hi-fi industry's explosive growth. Driven by a passion for music's emotional power, they experimented with speaker designs that captured local acclaim. By the early 1980s, their breakthrough flush-mount in-wall loudspeaker revolutionized architectural audio, launching the self-branded SpeakerCraft line in 1994 and propelling the company to industry prominence.
The brand specializes in custom installation solutions, excelling in high-performance architectural speakers that integrate seamlessly into walls and ceilings, alongside amplifiers, control systems, and multi-room playback products. Designed in-house by top engineers using cutting-edge technologies and premium materials, these offerings support diverse sources—music, movies, TV, podcasts—while prioritizing bold sound and designer aesthetics for whole-home immersion.
SpeakerCraft holds a respected position in the custom integrator market as a high-end innovator, favored for nearly four decades by professionals seeking transformative audio that elevates everyday listening. Its lifetime limited warranty on speakers underscores enduring reliability, cementing a legacy of turning houses into sonic homes, even as its heritage influences successors like Origin Acoustics.
