Bose’s QuietComfort Ultra 2 sits at the top of the company’s noise-cancelling range, combining excellent ANC, comfortable long-session wear and a broadly enjoyable sound. At €330, though, this listing is ambitious: recent comparable used examples center on €206, with the 75th percentile at €242. That puts this price well above the normal used-market ceiling and only just below the stated €330 new price.
The headphones themselves are a strong buy when discounted properly. They excel on aircraft and trains, offer useful multipoint Bluetooth, adjustable EQ, Immersive Audio and up to 30 hours with noise cancelling; USB-C lossless listening is a worthwhile Ultra 2 upgrade. Included cables and accessories are welcome, but they do not justify paying nearly new money. Unless this is genuinely pristine with unusually strong warranty coverage, waiting for a listing around €200–€240 would be the sensible move.
Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.
Bose Corporation traces its roots to 1964, when MIT professor Amar Gopal Bose founded the company in Natick, Massachusetts, after growing disillusioned with the poor performance of a high-end stereo system he purchased as a graduate student. Driven by a passion for replicating the immersive qualities of live music through rigorous acoustic research, Bose launched the venture with initial contracts for the U.S. military and NASA, emphasizing innovative speaker designs that prioritized indirect, reverberant sound over direct radiation. This American heritage, rooted in psychoacoustics and engineering excellence, has defined the brand's pursuit of "Better Sound Through Research."
Bose excels in consumer and professional audio categories, renowned for its home audio systems, premium speakers like the iconic 901 Series, and pioneering noise-canceling headphones first prototyped in the 1980s for pilots. The lineup extends to vehicle sound systems, portable Bluetooth speakers, and professional installations, but steers clear of niche hi-fi components such as amplifiers, turntables, DACs, or cables, focusing instead on integrated, user-friendly solutions that blend advanced signal processing with spatial audio reproduction.
Positioned as a premium mid-tier powerhouse in the global market, Bose commands widespread appeal among discerning buyers seeking accessible high-performance audio without audiophile esoterica. Its reputation for innovation and reliability has built a loyal following, though purists occasionally critique its measured sound signature, cementing Bose as a dominant force in mainstream hi-fi rather than high-end boutique or vintage realms.
